Gifted Young Players

At Victoria House in Lyme Regis we have a few simple objectives for our recorder courses: the very best tutors, relaxed and friendly accommodation, good food, good company and a great location.

We run recorder courses at all levels from beginners to Diploma for around 10 - 12 players with some of the best tutors from around the world.  We welcome many non-playing spouses and partners, who enjoy the surroundings and the warm and friendly atmosphere.

We have 20 courses available for 2016, as well as a few private ones.  Have a look at the list of 2016 courses and we do hope you can find one that suits you.  2016 looks like being the year of the composer, with Fumihare Yoshimine, Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk and Matthias Maute all involved in courses in Lyme.

There will be more details on all of the 2016 courses shortly, but in the meanwhile, if you want to guarantee a place on any of our courses, please complete a booking form and send a £75 deposit.

In 2014 and 2015 we held a course for Gifted Young Players up to the age of 18, led by Tom Beets of the Flanders Recorder Quartet.  This was fully funded through our collaboration with the Walter Bergmann Fund.  WBF will not be able to help fund this again, so we are looking for other ways to fund this fantastic opportunity for some of our best young players.  Any ideas or donations would be very gratefully received!  Please see our Gifted Young Players web page for more details.

A full day includes 4 one and a half hour sessions.  The early part of each afternoon is free for relaxation, exploring Lyme Regis or informal recorder playing.  Please look at the 'more information' page for each course, when available, for details of specific start and finish times.
